Overview

Anjali Thomas is an Associate Professor in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs and Director of the Nunn School Program in Global Development. She is also a 2024 (Non-Resident) Fellow at the Gothenburg Governance and Local Development Institute. Professor Thomas specializes in comparative politics and political economy with an emphasis on India. The substantive questions that drive her research have to do with the politics of public service provision, distributive politics, gender disparities and multi-level governance. Her research has been published, or is forthcoming, in The American Journal of Political Science, The British Journal of Political Science, Comparative Political Studies, Journal of Peace Research, Journal of Theoretical Politics and Political Research Quarterly and her book has been published with Cambridge University Press (2016). Her major ongoing projects focus on the pathways through which citizens gain formalized access to services and a project funded by the National Science Foundation on the role of state actors in shaping citizens’ pro-developmental attitudes and behaviors.. Prior to joining the faculty at Georgia Tech, Anjali was a faculty member in the Department of Political Science at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
